Unlike heat press or sublimation setups that transfer colour onto a surface, a fiber laser marking machine permanently engraves or marks metal, some plastics, and coated surfaces using a focused laser beam. That difference matters a lot for the kind of products and customers it opens up.
The most common commercial use is permanent product marking — serial numbers, batch codes, logos and barcodes on metal tools, electronics components and industrial parts. Manufacturing and MSME customers are usually looking for reliability and speed here, not decoration.
On the gifting and personalisation side, fiber lasers are excellent for engraving steel bottles, keychains, pens, watches, and metal photo frames — products that heat press or sublimation simply can't touch because they aren't polyester-coated.
Compared to sublimation or DTF, a fiber laser has no consumables to restock — no ink, no film, no paper — which keeps the running cost per piece very low once you've recovered the machine's upfront cost. The trade-off is that setup and software (for vector designs) has a steeper learning curve than a simple heat press.
If your customer base already includes corporate gifting or industrial clients, a fiber laser marking machine is often the highest-margin addition you can make to an existing sublimation or DTF setup, rather than a starting purchase on its own.
